Where I Am The Sun DOESN'T SET! - Emma Cruises Weekly Newsletter

Hey hey, I hope you're having a lovely week. I'm sending this email from my cabin onboard the Norwegian Star sailing near Iceland! πŸ˜‡πŸš’

I know 'The Sun DOESN'T SET' might not sound possible, but I promise you it is! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

On this cruise, I've been visiting some of the most remote places on earth, some of which are so far north that they have 24-hour sunlight during the summer. 🌀️🌦️

I visited Svalbard (where I took a trip down a coal mine and crawled through a 60cm high tunnel), and there the sun won't set for 4 months of the year. It's so remote that you're not allowed to die or give birth there. Yep really! ⛏️πŸͺ¨

The sun doesn't rise at all in winter for 4 months too, I'm not sure which I'd prefer! πŸ€―β˜€οΈ

This cruise has been magical. I EVEN SAW A WHALEE!!! I cannot wait to share this trip with you. Thank you so much for following along with the adventure. 😘πŸ₯Ή

(Ps, I'm so glad you want to hear about the cruises that I take. I started my first website way back in 2016 because I'd take a cruise and try and tell my friends about it. I could tell that they were just listening to be polite... but I figured that somebody somewhere MIGHT care. Maybe. Here we are, almost 9 years later.)

When I was on a cruise in Asia, I was repeatedly served Soda with an ingredient that I definitely didn’t order...

It wasn’t listed on any menus, but I was given it daily. I'm SO glad that I did my research before drinking it! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Many first-time cruisers worry about the cabins feeling small and claustrophobic, but I’ve never found this to be the case, even though some really are small.

The below post compares the sizes of different cabin types and the numbers may surprise you, they did me!

When I embarked on a cruise which was a 13-night trip sailing from the UK in October I knew that I was taking a risk.

I brought my family along and it certainly was an eventful cruise!

A little while ago I took a cruise where I stayed in a balcony cabin that has a quirky downside that I’d never encountered on a ship before.

The cruise lines don’t advertise cabins like these, and most people have no idea that they exist.

  • Next Live: Friday 27th June 5pm UK (12pm Eastern)

Note: There is no live stream on the 20th as I'm heading home. If you miss me (thanks) please check out the live stream I did onboard last week if you missed it. It was great fun!

You may be wondering which is the cheapest time of year to go on a cruise.

It all depends, really, on where you want to go in the world. In the below post I cover the main areas and the prices.

It won't be long now until my full Carnival Miracle review is ready so please keep an eye on my channel for that this week! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. πŸ’πŸ‘€β€‹

Ps, heres the picture of me in the coal mine in Svalbard. Makes me laugh so much. I don't think I'll be changing career, it took me days to get all the coal washed off!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Have a fantastic week,

ad β€’ Greetings from the wonderful Norwegian Star, currently bobbing around near Norway! πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄πŸ˜ The cruise I'm currently on is 12 days long, and we're visiting Svalbard and Iceland, two places that I've never been to before. They've been on my to do list for a veeery long time. πŸ˜‹πŸš’ In Svalbard, the sun doesn't set between the 20th of April and the 22nd of August. AT ALL. Isn't that crazy?! I can't wait to show you more of this adventure. Glad I'm not here in winter when it's dark 24/7! πŸ₯ΉπŸ† I have...

My goodness me, what a week it has been! I hope yours is going well. πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡±βš“οΈ This week, my video about the time I spent in Sierra Leone onboard a floating hospital ship went live. πŸ˜‡β€οΈ It was by far the most difficult video to make and edit, but I hope that I managed to put everything I've learnt over the last 8 years of YouTube-ing into it because it's the most important video I've ever made. πŸ₯°πŸ™ŒπŸΌ The picture below is of a fake plastic dummy, by the way, not a real person. I was in the simulation...

After 7 rough days at sea… I'm home! I’m so so glad I took the trip, but so so so glad to be back on land now. I feel so much better. πŸ˜‚β€οΈ I took a transatlantic from New York to Southampton onboard Cunard's Queen Mary 2. I knew the weather might be bad in January, but I figured it'd either be good weather or a good story to tell you. It certainly will be that! πŸ˜…πŸ˜‡ This trip has confirmed to me that cruises with more than a couple of sea days in a row aren’t for me as, unfortunately, I do feel...
